Malcolm Teasdale is a celebrated North East artist whose evocative paintings capture the spirit. community, and industrial heritage of Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, and County Durham. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1944. Malcolm’s work subsequently reflects a deep personal connection to the landscapes and people that shaped his life.
Early Life and Roots in the North East.
Malcolm Teasdale was born in the Elswick area of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1944. His family history is woven into the region’s industrial past—his ancestors were lead miners on the windswept Alston Moor, while later generations worked the coal seams of Tynedale and the pits close to Newcastle. This rich working-class heritage continues to inspire his art today.
From Teaching to Full-Time Artist.
For many years, Malcolm combined his career as a teacher with his lifelong passion for painting. In recent decades, he has devoted himself entirely to his art. Malcolm is no longer painting, however he has exhibited in exhibitions throughout the UK. One of his most notable shows, A Glimpse of the Great North, was featured in a BBC television programme.
