Steve Capper

Steve Capper is a North West based artist. Born in 1944, Steve attended Manchester’s High School of Art in 1955. Followed by the Manchester College of Art in 1962 and then Bretton Hall College in 1965.

Following his artistic start Steve became the head of a large art faculty in an Oldham comprehensive school. Steve taught painting for thirty years. He then took early retirement in 1996, to concentrate on his own paintings.

Steve lives and works on the edge of the Pennines. With beautiful scenery surrounding his studio. Some of the scenes Steve paints are visible from his studio and have had a major influence on his landscape work. He has developed his own recognisable artistic style. Subsequently he has a unique way of portraying the local landscape however constantly varying colour and themes.

Steve Capper’s paintings of hills and valleys are produced by simple individual shapes. Which combine to form more complex images. The shapes and patterns provide an ideal vehicle for Steve’s art work with colour. Furthermore his use of primary colour both enhances and emphasises the fascinating aspects of this landscape environment.

Capper paintings have been exhibited in many prestigious galleries all over the UK.
